Glamping Pods With Hot Tub

Dog friendly glamping with hot tubs

Most dogs enjoy glamping more than their owners do. The catch is that “dog friendly” means very different things from one site to the next, and the listing rarely tells you all of it.

What dog friendly actually covers

At its loosest, it means a dog is allowed through the gate. Nothing more. Many sites cap the number at one or two, charge a fee per dog or per stay, and ask that dogs aren’t left alone in the pod.

Then there’s the ground itself. A pod in an open field on a working farm is a different proposition from one with its own fenced plot. If your dog has ever chased a sheep, that difference is the whole holiday.

Dogs and the tub

Keep them out of it. The water is treated with chemicals, it’s far too warm for a dog, and claws and hot tub liners don’t mix. Expect the site’s own rules to say the same.

The practical bit is the lid. Put it back on whenever you get out, even for ten minutes. A curious dog and an open tub is how deposits get lost.

Six questions to ask before you pay

How many dogs can we bring, and is there a charge? Is the area around the pod enclosed? Are there livestock in the next field, and is it lambing season? Can the dog be left inside while we go out for dinner? Is there somewhere to rinse a muddy dog? And where’s the nearest walk that doesn’t involve a road?

One more for the coast. Many UK beaches ban dogs between May and September, so check the beach you have in mind before you book a week beside it.

Where to look

The two links below open each booking site’s dog friendly glamping pages. They cover all glamping, so add the hot tub filter once you’re there. If you’d rather start from a place, pick a region first and filter for dogs on the booking site.
